2018 Spring Season Registration

San Luis Obispo Youth Baseball is excited to offer six divisions for the 2018 spring season:
Collegiate: Ages 4 to 6 (beginning 7 yr olds) - Collegiate is a non-competitive program (no scores are kept) and is designed to teach the basics of baseball. The use of a pitching machine for the entire season will provide practice and repetitions for the players. Recommended for beginning 7 yr olds and highly advanced 4 and 5 year olds. It is HIGHLY recommended that kids have played at least 1 year of TBall with the YMCA. Teams are formed by school and game length is 3 innings. One practice and one game per week.
Rookie: Ages 7 to 8 - Rookie will be strictly machine pitch with the use of regular baseballs. 60 foot bases. This division is intended for players transitioning from the Collegiate Division. Advanced 6 yr olds may request to play up in Rookie if they have played one year of Collegiate (visit the Registration page at www.sloyouthbaseball.com for request directions). It is HIGHLY recommended that your child has played at least 1 year in our collegiate division. Teams are formed by school and game length is 6 innings. One to Two practices per week and two games per week.
Farm: *New for 2018* Ages 8 to 9 - the Farm Division consists of players ages 8-9 yrs old (advanced 7 yr olds may requst to play up in Farm, visit the Registration page at www.sloyouthbaseball.com for request directions). This division is excellent for beginning 9 yr olds, or 9 yr olds not comfortable with full kid pitch. This division will consist of a progression of machine and kid pitch from 46' with 6 inning games and uses a regular baseball. One to two practices per week and two games per week. Teams will be formed by Board Coordinators to provide equal teams. Player school will be a factor in player placement, but will not be the sole determination.
Minors: Ages 9 to 11 - 60 foot bases and 46 foot mounds. Full kid pitch with basestealing and 6 inning games with a regular baseball. (Advanced 8 yr olds may request to play up may and beginning 11 yr olds may request to play down, visit the Registration page at www.sloyouthbaseball.com for request directions). Teams are formed by player draft from Spring Training. All players planning to play in the Minors Division must attend one of the three Spring Training Sessions.
Majors: The Majors Division will consist of 5 teams with players ranging from 11-12 yrs old (advanced 10 yr old may tryout for majors, visit the Registration page at www.sloyouthbaseball.com for request directions). This division is 50' pitching mound and 70' bases. Players will lead off and learn to hold runners on, with open bases for stealing. One to two practices per week with two games per week. This division will participate in an interleague season with Five Cities Cal Ripken Majors Division, where some games will be held in Pismo. Teams will be formed by player draft through our Spring Training sessions. All players wishing to play Majors, must attend at least one Spring Training session. All 12 year old players will be drafted (unless a request is made to play down). The 11 year olds (with possible 10 yr olds) will be drafted to fill the 5 teams. Any 11 yr old not selected for Majors will be drafted onto a Minors Division team.
Babe Ruth: Ages 13, 14 and 15 - 90 foot bases and regulation size fields. This division features two seasons - the First Season in the Spring and the Second Season, which starts after the high school season ends. Teams are formed by coaches drafting players from our hosted tryouts.
SLO Youth Baseball provides a scholarship program where the league entry fee will be lowered or waived for families requiring financial assistance. Our goal is to include all interested kids from the San Luis Obispo community in our program.

If a parent would like to request that a player be considered to play in either an older or younger age group, they should:
1. Register the player in the age-appropriate division
2. Send an email request to the league at email@example.com by February 1st.
Requests to play in an older or younger age group should include the following information:
-Reason for requesting change in division
Players born after April 30, 2013 who would like to participate in the Collegiate division should email firstname.lastname@example.org
Requests to play out of age division will be reviewed by the league board. Determination of whether a request will be granted will be based on space availability in each division and on player experience level.
